Who is in 'Heartache'?

Cassie Osbourne (She/Her)

Jane/Director

Cassie is a director/actor based in South-West London who first came to acting at the age of four at her local children’s theatre where she was thrilled to be cast as a rat in the children’s club’s production of ‘The Pied Piper’. Since then, she has been in numerous productions (both amateur and professional) before doing an Acting Foundation at Guildford School of Acting and then studying Drama and Performing Arts at the University of Winchester. This is where she met George.

While studying, Cassie enjoyed honing her skills in acting, writing and finding a new love, puppetry. During her third year, she discovered acting for radio when lockdown hit and she and George were forced to cancel their final year performance. This was also the first time that she had directed anything longer than a five-minute sketch. ‘Heartache’ really has come a long way since being recorded by students sitting cross legged on their living room floor.

In April 2022, Cassie set up Everything’s Rosie Theatre Company, opening in August with ‘Kindertransport’ by Diane Samuels at South London Theatre. Encouraged by the positive feedback she received, she continued her directing with ‘Thick as Thieves’ by Katherine Chandler in April 2023 (McQueens Theatre) and most recently ‘Blackbird’ by David Harrower (South London Theatre). But ‘Heartache’ had never really left her mind and she’s thrilled that the company was able to record it properly.

When she’s not acting or directing, Cassie enjoys sharing her experiences working in theatre with her vlogging and blogging as well as reading fantasy novels and ‘ahhhhh’ing at the creations on ‘Bake Off’.

Other credits include: Alistair Ryle in ‘Posh’ (University of Winchester), Stats in ‘Time Quake’ (Hampton Court Palace), Chorus in ‘The Trial’ (Staatstheater, Oldenburg) and Syme in ‘1984’ (Rose Theatre, Kingston).

George Murphy (He/Him)

John/Writer

George Murphy is a writer/actor who has worked on various projects ranging from voice work to theatre and beyond. His love of acting was discovered during a school production of ‘Hairspray’, where he was asked to play the role of Edna Turnblad by the director personally. George was given an award for best performance that year by his school and decided to change course and study acting when he was applying for colleges.

After studying writing and acting for 2 years at college, George took a gap year to figure out which pathway he wanted to focus on at university. During this time, he wrote various projects in his free time, ranging from short stories to a series of comics, while spending as much time on stage as he could with the Hedge End Performing Arts Company, where he played the role of Reecey in the musical ‘Our House’.

George graduated the University of Winchester in 2020, his final year of university being cut short due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Due to this event, George’s final year performance, a play he had written himself was unable to be performed as intended due to the University going into lockdown. George decided to adapt the project into a radio play, recording everything in the lounge of his student house with his friends. While the situation wasn’t ideal, through it George discovered a love of voice acting which he previously didn’t know he had. The project he adapted was ‘Heartache’, the radio play you are listening to today, re-recorded and edited for a new audience.

Other credits include: Laurie in ‘Little Women,’ The Mad Hatter in ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ and Peter Pevensie in ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’.

George would like to thank his partner Sarah and grandparents Colin and Sheila for all their continued support.
